While watching an IRON CRAFT video...

I discovered the interviews on IRON CRAFT a few weeks ago. This weeks interview is with Jen Rzasa and Tasnim Ahmed of ALTENEW stamps. They are the creators of one of my FAVORITE stamps sets...PAINTED FLOWERS. As I was listening to the interview I decided to create a card using the set along with some new Simon Says Ink pads.

The colors I chose to work with are SCRUMPTIOUS!!!
The HELLO die is from wplus9. I extended the script to the edges by selectively cutting the die on my BIGkick and fussy cutting the rest by hand.

It all started with a PIN

Good Thursday to ya! Today's card all started with this PIN.

So I created the background but I thought it was too bold..A little GESSO did the trick of toning it down. .
Here is a photo before the gesso. I forgot to take one of the after:)

I then added a vellum overlay that was embossed with THIS folder from ANNA GRIFFIN.. and some die cuts from EMBELLISHED ELEGANCE.

Hope you like it!

Can a GAL have TOO many flower stamps?

I think NOT!!

Just got some new PTI stamp sets...Yes they are flowers:)) and some strings . I can't tie a bow to save my life. This set makes it EASY!!
I used the  inspiration photo and color recipe from Papertrey's June 2014 Blog Hop Challenge to make this card.

I also used Melissa's technique from   Make It Monday #168.
Hope you like it!

Make It Monday #168: Combining Chalk and Stamps with Impression Plates

Melissa Phillips' chalk, stamps and impression plate technique was interesting. I only have a few impression plates from PTI and they all have very tiny details. You can see the CANVAS plate I used in the close-up of my card.

I broke out the gellatos for this one. LOVE getting my fingers all chalky with these! It reminded me of summer days finger painting with my best bud Becky!

Scrapling Tag: Virginia's View Challenge # 4

WOW! I did not think this challenge would be so difficult!
YES, I keep every tiny bit of paper and scrap "just in case I can use it later" as so many others seem to do. There are drawers and boxes and tins all over my craft room filled with the dear little things. Shortage of Scraplings is not a problem. However, putting something together using the scraplings that looked half way decent proved to be a REAL doosie of a  challenge. THANKS Virginia!

Here is what I decided to use.

  • cardstock with embossing paste textured with a comb
  • watercolor paper with pink washed background
  • cardstock with various repeat  HELLO stamped sentiment
  • Color saturated babywipes stitched in teardrop shapes
And here is my Scrapling.

Make It Monday #167: DIY Notebooks

My little ones are always asking to have a notebook for drawing..."no lines please mamma, we want to draw pictures," they say. I was thrilled when Erin over at Papertrey Inc. showed us how to make these sweet notebooks for MIM #167.  Here is what I came up with for my daughter.

She was able to print her name in the little box with her tiny pink pen.

The size of the large notebook is3x4 1/2"
Her favorite size is the MINI. It is 2x3".

I used PTI's DOODLIE-DO  stamp set...perfect for a DOODLE book..... don't you think?!
My son is still thinking what he would like on the front of his...blue, no green, maybe Black....you get the picture.

Organic

One last CASE with WIDA at CASE Study Challenge #193. But of course I will still be stalking her blog Beachorado and continue PINNING to this board.

The card we are CASing this week has such a lovely organic feel to it. Very breezy with the movement of the flower stamp and arrows, as well as the dainty die cut sentiment. Here is WIDA'S card.

Here is mine

I used some petals from the roses in my garden..too pretty to toss out after drying in my opinion!

My 1st Picture Tutorial: ARTSY from NOT so ARTSY stamps.

The SSS Monday Challenge for the week is ARTSY STAMP.

This card was created with a group of friends who had not been introduced to the MAGIC of DISTRESS INKS. I started by showing them how to blend  the color on with an applicator.

( BOY am I looking forward to getting those MINI blenders!)

After a good thick coat of ink I spritzed it with water and let it dry.
LOVE those droplets!

Then I misted my stamp  with water and  set it on the well inked cardstock.

The results were too faint.

One of the gals suggested adding color to the stamp then restamping.
This was nice, but not what I was going for.

So we inked it again with a darker color and little spritz of water.
  That was it!! Cool!

I stamped some more images and doodled with a white pen.

Embossed over the clock image and added a sentiment. Finished it off with some washi tape on the card base and mounted the whole thing together with my SUPER enduro PINK tape runner.

I Like how this group effort of trial and error, inking and stamping turned out! Nice ARTSY looking card from NOT-So artsy stamps. The girls are hooked on DISTRESS INKS now!

Here is a close-up
