April 2018 Inspiration Challenge at Altenew

Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing a card for the ALTENEW April 2018 Inspiration Challenge.  I've been participating and enjoying For the LOVE of COLOR class taught by Julia Altermann. Her classes have been very detailed in coloring with Alcohol markers, pencils, watercolor and even coloring on Glitter!

For this card I combined several lessons from the Altenew Academy AECP Level 2 by using the color palette from the inspiration photo above.
Here is my card:

This is an almost One Layer card, utilizing lessons learned in Masking Unleashed and Beyond Basic Backgrounds with a hint of pencil coloring skills learned in For the LOVE of COLOR.

  • I used the Stone Wall Stencil and Shades of Purple Crisp inks sponged over a mask cut with the decorative frame in the New Day Card Kit for the background on an A2 sized White CS
  • Then I stamped a small outline image from Remember This , keeping the frame mask in place, only removing the center cut to create a "window" effect.
  • And here is where I colored with Prisma colored pencils, just a bit on the rose buds
  • I inked the detailed layer of the leaves and stems,VERY LIGHTLY, with Frayed Leaf crisp ink
  • With C002 Artistic marker, I quickly added a shadow at the window
  • The sentiment is from Story of Us, inked with Jet Black
  • Brought in more green with an arrow from Happy Dreams, inked with Parrot Crisp ink
  • Trimmed the panel down to show a tiny bit of white on an A2 cardbase
  • Heart shaped Enamel Dots were the finishing touch of embellishment

Level 2
Hope you liked my card today.  It's Fun and challenging to see how many new skills can be packed into a single project:)

Inspired By All the Little Things #84

I was inspired by the layers and layers of  STICKY SWEET!
I created a shaped card using the Lavish Donut Cardbase Die and
Lavish Donuts and Unicorns Bundle stamp set. Then "iced" it thickly with clear embossed Large Florals: Heritage Rose which had been inked with layers of Ruby Red Mini Couture collection. Embellished with a white Doily Circle Die and gold tread nest.

Altenew Celebrating Parents Card Drive Blog Hop + Giveaway

I'm honored to be a part of this Blog Hop Celebrating Parents
Creating Mother’s Day and Father’s Day cards seems to be an easy thing for me, as my parents are and have been very influential in my life.  As Mom and Dad grow older, I see our roles changing as caregivers.  A simple phone call or even a brief text means so much. Taking it a step further and sending an actual card showing appreciation and LOVE is the Sprinkle on top!

If you are hopping from the start, you are arriving from Laurie Willison's blog.

Altenew will be collecting handmade cards between March 14th and April 30th. Hope you join us and create something lovely for this special Celebrating Parents Card Drive

Here are some cards I made for the card drive. I'll give a short description on how to make each one, later in the post.

*20% of the profits earned from the following sets (Best Dad, Painted Rose, Penned Rose, Extra Special, and Best Mom) by 6/17/2017 will be donated to Food Bank of Central New York to support seniors in need.

Best Dad Stamp & Die Bundle is the star of my first card. Which I  enjoyed coloring with Artistic Markers after each image was stamped and cut out. Then I arranged them onto the Pegboard Canvas Cover Die
***********************************************

Next I created another masculine card featuring Trigonometry Stamp & Die Bundle.
Stamped with Crisp inks Sweet Dreams Mini Cube Set and Maple Yellow from Pocketful of Sunshine Mini Cube Set. The sentiments are from BEST DAD stamp set. I randomly cut three dotted triangles on an A2 sized card front. Layered that panel onto a white cardbase and placed the other inked triangles around the sentiment. The main Thank you sentiment is heat embossed onto Gold Paper and popped up with fun foam tape.
****************************************
Moving on to some feminine cards:)
Extra Special Stamp & Die Bundle has such pretty floral layering images.
  • I inked Two of the large spray outlined images with Bamboo crisp ink
  • Then I inked the layers of  EXTRA SPECIAL blooms with Dew Drops, and Aqualicious.
  • The leaves and stem solid images are inked with Minty Mint and Sweet Leaf.
  • To add a kiss of sparkle, I flicked an embossing pen over the blooms and heat embossed with platinum EP, a lesson learned in the Impressive Heat Embossing class at Altenew Academy.
  • Then cut both sprays out with the coordinating die and then cut the sprays into several pieces to make a custom swag arrangement

Mixed in my arrangement is the Leafy Wreath Die spritzed with DUSK metallic spray and smooshed some Just Green Crips ink onto the leaves. I then clipped it into smaller pieces and tucked them in and around the floral blooms. Those bits of Orange are from the Create-A-Wreath Die Set. one of my favorite filler die sets:)
Before placing the floral swag arrangement onto a card front:

  • Dry embossed the Halftone Cover Die onto white A2 sized CS
  • Splattered Aqualicious and Sweet Leaf smooched onto an acrylic block and flicked with a wet brush
  • Stamped the tiny flower and sprig images from DOT LABELS  in black
  • Created the Label by inking and sparsely embossing it with Platinum EP then cut it out with the die
To finish the card:
  • Matted the cardfront onto coordinating paper
  • Adhered the floral arrangement with foam tape and liquid glue
  • Embellished withBlack Nuvo dots

**********************************
For a more simple card using Extra Special Stamp & Die Bundle: I colored the sweet flowers and leaves with  Artistic Markers: B002, B201, B204, B227, B 313, G554, G702, G715
After die cutting with the coordinating die, I layered up a pretty freestyle collage of goodness which included several triangles left over from the masculine card above using Trigonometry Stamp & Die Bundle.A blue Layered Rose die cut, and a tag from Handmade Tags die set.
The Dotted Scales Debossing Cover Die makes a delicate textured background for the collage:) and a simple Silver thread nest/bow are all that is needed for embellishment!

This card sports an element from the class, With a Twist, at the Altenew Academy, as the Triangles are often considered masculine, yet in this arrangement they add interest among the otherwise feminine collage.
******************************************
And my final card is a quick One Layer card using the Wildflower Garden Stamp Set.

Spellbinders Die ROSE BIRD TOPIARY ETCHED DIES FLOWER GARDEN

Hello everyone and happy Monday!

Today I'm sharing a card using the SHAPEABILITIES ROSE BIRD TOPIARY ETCHED DIES FLOWER GARDEN BY SHARYN SOWELLS4-846
This was a delightful die to color with my Ziggys:)).
  • I first die cut the largest die from 110# white cardstock and then colored,
  • then cut two more layers and stacked them together.
  • die cut LOVE several times and stack it up and quickly colored the top layer to match the "branch topiary"
  • Cut one of the Banner plate that fits perfectly and adds a touch more dimension to the finished die-cut piece
  • Matted the whole thing onto coordinating cardstock

I think this ROSE BIRD TOPIARY ETCHED DIES FLOWER GARDEN die made a lovely Wedding card, which I needed. But it would work for Mother's Day, Birthday and Anniversary too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Spellbinders APRIL Small Die Of The Month Kit

Hello Folks! I'm super excited to share what I created using the Spellbinders APRIL Small Die Of The Month Kit!

Here are what the dies from the kit look like:

YESSSS! Flowers:))
All the heart eyes from me! I literally DOVE into these beauties.

And here are my cards:
Did I mention how much fun this small die kit was to play with?!
Take a walk with me through my creative process for each card.
I started out by cutting allllll the small dies from 110# white cardstock, then set to coloring with Alcohol inks and Ziggy markers.
I fussy cut the stems off the leaves, or leaves off the stems:)) and arranged the pretty flowers around the sentiment. Trying out a sentiment inking over die cuts technique from Jennifer McGuire. I layered several small flower cuts with tiny dots from the set, in between each one for more dimension.

Moving on to a fairly simple card, I cut the 'die plate' stems out from the lower portion of an A2 sized card front. Then added the flowerhead dies at the top of each stem. I cut extra flowers and stems to extend off the card front panel.on either side
Matted the panel with a cheery YELLOW piece of cardstock and cut SEVERAL small dots from the die set and placed them in the center of each flowerhead and added MORE at the top of the panel:))
Stamped the sentiment from Crafty Friends Stamp Set at the bottom and called it finished:)

Still working in white: using the small cuts from above and a shaping tools with foam mat, I worked a bit of dimension into the petals and layered them together. The center of each flower is  a small circle cut and shaped..they made lovely Paper enamel Dots:)
That Blue polka-dot background is from creating a custom stencil with all the circle dies in the APRIL Small Die Of The Month Kit, then inked with Distress inks.
The sentiment is from the Artistic Bouquet  set at POWER POPPY and embellished with a couple of stips of washi tape.

Continued play with the Custom stencil created by cutting the circles from the Small Die Of The Month Kit! :))
I popped a few die cuts onto various inked circles and stamped a sentiment..BOOM Happy EASY little card!
***Hope you enjoyed my creations today! Thanks for stopping by. If you create anything using SPELLBINDERS dies remember to tag them...#SpellbindersClubKits #NeverStopMaking #Spellbinders so we can all enjoy them!

Inspired By #83

Such a lovely parade of blooms in the inspiration photo for

I chose a new background stamp, Anemone Borderto loosely ink up with Distress inks after heat embossing with white EP. Then I added more color details with Ziggys and alcohol markers.
