TCC #35- A study of Rose Frosting and Silver

Hello dear readers and fellow watercolor enthusiasts:) I admit I'm smitten with the coloring of MARIKA. Studying her cards and videos has me working on patience and a NEVER give up attitude.
I  strugglewith multi layered rose stamps and watercolors.  Too much color, too much water, and pilling of the paper.
DRAT!
After fiddling with the layers of WMS Old Country Roses, I find my trouble of  adding too much color and loosing the white highlights force me to keep working with it:)
So Yes, a study in ROSE Frosting...Today I ended up using Copic OPAQUE WHITE  to paint in the highlights:))
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! - Lewis Carroll
she chortled in her joy!

I thought the inspiration photo for the NEW challenge at The Card Concept was scrumptious

I ended up with a One layered card that I'm somewhat happy with.
I stated out with a white piece of cardstock, stamped my two layers of OLD ROSES and them added water to the darker areas...finished off with the Opaque White to add some texture and highlights.
Masked those roses and created the BG by adding thin strips of washi and stamping HA's Designer WOODGRAIN, removed the washi and masked the woodgrain with post-it paper to darken the "black wood spaces". Let that dry.  Then stamped WMS FOLK ART MEDALLION in Unicorn White and embossed it with CLEAR powder.
To finish off the card I added some silver striped washi, a metallic piece of ribbon and The HELLO die from Penny Black. The Die and very edge of the cardbase are embossed with Rangers' Liquid Platinum.

Hope this inspires you to just keep trying with those watercolors...add some Copic if you need too:)
AND
join in the fun at TCC!

See ya!
