CASEing Genius One year Anniversary

Hello!
I Hope you all had time to see the fantastic cards from the CASEing Kelly Blog Hop. It felt like Christmas for me. Seeing all the Kelly cards that inspired each Gal's CASE was very interesting.
In celebration of her one year anniversary of CASEing Genius, Kelly is asking everyone, who wants to play along, to choose a Genius post from her blog and CASE that genius then link a card here
FUN, FUN ,FUN!!
I chose to CASE
Kelly introduced Joan to me in her Genius post earlier this year...that's the beauty of the CASEing Genius Feature...getting to meet cardmakers that may not otherwise be known to you:)
Joan not only makes admirable CAS cards but I find her sense of humor to be refreshing.
Satirical Writing is her forte. The NO.1 Best Seller, Stamping Destroyed My Life can be enjoyed currently on her blog.
As I said before, Joan's cards are very much CAS, (something I really need to work on). Often, as seen here, here, here, and here, she simply paints something fa-nominal as a focal point then stamps a sentiment and there you go!
So I painted poppies as my focal point.
After seeing this video by IOANA, I've been obsessed with paining poppies. The technique was easy to understand and simply addictive to practice at.  You really need to check out the video:)
Here is my card:
Focal point, a few splatters, a sentiment..There you Go!
Thank you JOAN for the inspiration:)

Kelly asked us to Nominate someone to be a CASEing Genius and link to their blog.
GIRL, do I have suggestions:))

CASEing Kelly Blog Hop

Super thrilled to be part of the CASEing Kelly blog hop!
Yes, we are CASEing Kelly Latevola,
the TRUE GENIUS behind CASEing Genius:)
It's the One year Anniversary of this Feature on her blog.
HAPPY Anniversary Kelly!

In Kelly’s CASEing Genius posts, she takes THREE cards from the designer she is CASEing, and makes ONE card inspired by those three cards.
This was SO VERY DIFFICULT for me to do folks! First of all, choosing just 3 Kelly cards that I LOVE was next to impossible. I started out with 15, 12, 6, then narrowed it down to 3 cards.
She does this almost every week!  Kelly, YOU are my HERO:)

Here are the KELLY cards I'm CASEing:)

  • Kelly is a master at creating one layer cards.
  • She Likes to color Flowers:)))
  • Her Sentiment is often a die-cut... that's great, who wants to go through all that coloring then mess it up with a Stamping error..MISTI or not:0
  • And Kelly often uses a solid colored matte as an accent to the main card front.

Here is my CASEd card:
I  watercolored poppies on Distress Watercolor paper using my
Kuretake Gansai Tambi, composing the flowers in the corner as Kelly often does. Die cut you, inspire and placed them on top. Stamped Kindness, and embossed with WOW pearl Silver on black cardstock.. Sunshine cardstock from SSS worked as the perfect accent matte:)
Thank you Kelly, from the bottom of my heart for encouraging me with your kindness; in adding me to the list of gals you CASEd.
Also thanks for the much needed reminder, through your videos
to stay true to my style, and do what I LOVE:)

PSS..Thank you Marika
for coming up with the idea of surprising Kelly with this hop and making it happen!

Watercolor Wonders

I LOVED Aga's card from this post. It was eye opening for me..I have been practicing those trendy florals from Yoa Cheng's watercolor class on Creativebug. Most of the time I'm unhappy with the results. So I tried Aga's idea and used Watercolor Wonders from Altenew to create a happy Watercolored card without the frustration of actually watercoloring:)
Two cards that make me HAPPY!

Hope your day is HAPPY too!

Lovely tag from a Fabulous Snowflake die

Hello!
I'm SOOOO excited about today's project:)
For a few years I have been collecting Clay ornaments handmade by Kay Miller from her Etsy shop.  These ornaments sell out within 10-15 minutes after she posts them. HOT off the clay modeling presses folks...but now that Kay is on the DT of PTI, she has stated that her ornaments will no longer be made:(((  But Good newses:))
Reverse Confetti just released a Layered Snowflake die designed by Kay.  This die set is for those of us who just don't work with clay!
Here is my first attempt at layering pattern paper with the die:)

Oh JOY:))

I will be entering this into the

October PIC Challenge

Hello! Hope you had a great weekend and ready to face all that Monday brings to ya:)
Here is a card I made using the October PIC Challenge as inspiration.
I freehand painted the daisy with heart center using Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors on Adirondack Alcohol ink cardstock. The paper is super for practice as I found it can be washed over and over again without pilling. Once an agreeable image is achieved I then Sprayed it with Matte Mod Podge to permanently seal it.

If you are practicing watercoloring this is a great way to save on paper:)

Cozy coloring

Good Sunday to ya!
I have one last card to enter into the challenge at Virginia's Veiw #19. All things colored.
I used my Watercolor crayons for this one and a Digi from Shery at STAMPlorations.
I did not add water, simply colored on Neenah Desert Storm cardstock:)

Here is the finished card.
(Amazing what different lighting does to it.)

The Migration of a Masterboard

Hello! YAY!! it's Friday!
Today's card started out as a  fabric pattern on a favorite blouse.

  •  I created  a masterboard on PTI Rustic Cream cardstock  as seen on my IG this week, using Altenew Vintage Rose and Vintage flowers stamp sets and  lots of masking, duplicating the pattern from the blouse:)
  • I cut it down to A2 card size
  • ran it through my Big Shot using a Wplus9 die
  • Re-Colored the black areas with a Spectrum Noir marker
  • added more gold embossing powder
  • finished with a gold embossed Bejeweled Butterfly on black cardstock:)

I LOVE how it turned out!

Hope you are having a super weekend!

Watercolor Rose For Gramma Mary

Today we are celebrating my Gramma Mary's 94th Birthday!!
A simple rose for an amazing woman!
We are blessed to have her still with us.
Two years ago she decided to retire from being a licensed beautician, mostly due to her clients passing on. And this year, a malfunctioning heart valve has slowed her down tremendously. She decided not to get the valve replaced and let nature take it's course. God Bless Her!  No gardening for her this year:(   Gramma is known for her home grown pickled beets.
Yes, I have the recipe:)) Unfortunately her canning skills did not get past on through the genes. Only her love of good Italian food, and taking life as it comes with a Smile and a great attitude!
We are all grateful for Gramma Mary's possessive outlook on everything:)

Happy Birthday Gramma Mary!

Just in case you were thinking that Gramma is misspelled, which for me it very well could be,..
The double M is the Italian way of spelling mama,  hence the mamma in my email address as well.

I'm linking this card to the challenge at Virginia's View #19

Edited: Thanks for the HM!

Joan's card is brightly colored and uses a watercolored background
with a flower simply stamped over the top.
Joan's Card

Watercoloring and  flowers that's what I LOVE:)
Here is my card:

October happens to be Breast Cancer Awareness month. My mother has been healed of two cancers  in her lifetime, one being of the Breast.  So this topic is dear to my heart.
Early detection is one key to winning this battle!
Remember ladies, do those self exams and get your yearly mammogram if you are over 40.
A mammogram only takes about an hour of your time, once a year.
