Background Magic: Background Stamps with Creativity Class

Hello Friends!
Hope you had a great weekend, and those of you in the US, a Blessed Memorial Day!
I had a very productive few days of crafting with the Background Magic: Background Stamps with Creativity Class at Altenew Academy.

This class was taught by Laurel Beard, and as always, Laurel  encouraged lots of CREATIVE PLAY. We were looking at the Altenew BACKGROUND stamps and different ways to makeunique cards.

These are a few of the cards created for the Homework assignments:
Inspired to create this Summery Multi-Inked card using the Watercolor Dots and Floral Elements using the MISTI. Then added the texture of Cross Stitch Canvas Die.
Below is a snapshot of the Crisp Inks I used. In the first lesson Laurel reminded me of one of my FAVORITE ways to ink up a stamp. Which I have not done in a very long time. I LOVE how soft the colors look:))
************************
I continued playing with Watercolor Dots and a suggested technique that STRETCHES a Background stamp for a different look. Once again, I used the Cross Stitch Canvas Die for texture and then I stitch a few daisies with embroidery floss.
The sentiment die, MISS YOU, compliments the playfulness of the rest of the card elements.

My next card features the Pattern Play: Circles background stamp paired with the Bold Alphabet Die Set.
This card looks like bubbles blown with the kiddos at a birthday party.

*****I created a few more cards for the class, but after the fact, I realized that they included a background not yet released ..oops! I'll share them later next month:))

I REALLY enjoyed Laurels lessons, shared tips and new techniques in the Background Magic: Background Stamps with Creativity Class. I LOVE that I have lifetime access to all the classes I've purchased at the Academy for those days that creative MOJO evades me. I can pop in for a lesson and BAM! Happy crafting happens:))

Altenew May 2018 Stamp/Die Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello everyone! I'm very excited to be joining Altenew for their MAY 2018 Stamp/Die Release Blog Hop! If you are hopping along you should be arriving from Flora Monika Farkas' BLOG.

To say I got carried away with playing/creating with the new May release, would be an understatement! However, can you blame me?!! This is one FABULOUS line-up of goodies!
WARNING****This is a photo heavy post:))
Here are my cards:

For my first card I created with the BRIDE -To -BE stamp set. So excited to find the floral images to be very much like the flowers from the RifflePaperCo.
I inked a one layer card, using Crisp Inks: Dew Drops, Aqualicious, Maple Yellow, Honey Drizzle, Coral Berry, Rouge, Pink Diamond, Cosmic Berry, Sweet Leaf, Parrot, and Frayed Leaf.
I created an oval stencil with Create-A-Wreath as a guide and added dots with Artistic Markers: B002, and B227

This second card features the Bride To Be Stamp Stamp & Die Bundle:
LOVING how different the BRIDE -To -BE set can look simply by adding a personal touch of coloring with the Artistic Markers after stamping the first solid images only!  using skills learned in the For the LOVE of COLOR class Altenew Academy, I worked to keep that bit of white highlight for added dimension and interest on each bloom.
The GOLD frame is the new Fine Frames Rectangles Die; all arranged nicely on a panel cut with the DOTTED SCALES DEBOSSING coverplate die.

*******
Moving on to the SCRUMPTIOUS new Garden Silhouette Stamp & Die Bundle
I created two similar, yet different cards inking with Crisp Inks, spritzing with water and stamping with a MISTI tool. A technique I learned in class at Altenew Academy's CREATIVE WATERCOLOR MEDIA.
This first card with Garden Silhouette has a background of the new Rustic Linen Stamp Set, inked with SAND DUNES crisp ink. The Creative Edges: Lace Die is the perfect delicate base for the vases to rest on:) LOVE that scripty font of the thanks sentiment one of many in the set.

The next card with Garden Silhouette Stamp & Die Bundle has a tone-on-tone look to it by adding the  Fine Frames Rectangles Dieonce again in gold, layered with a white Mandala Dietrimmed downand the Shutter cover die, cut from natural paper and matted on the same natural paper.
That sweet tag is made using Dot Labels Stamp & Die Bundle.
************

The next card features the FABULOUS layering set aptly named Fabulous Floral Stamp Set.

I was overcome with giddy giggles when stamping with this one:)) each layer is so pretty added to the one before! The guide on the packaging makes this set one of the EASIEST layering sets I have worked with to date!
Simply inked with Crisp InksCherry Blossom minisShades of PurplePocketful of Sunshine minis, and Sea Shore minis. Once I stamped my arrangement with a hint of masking, I fussy cut the whole thing out and popped it onto an A2 sized panel stamped with the new Rustic Linen Stamp Setinked and sponged with Maple Yellow and Honey Drizzle. Just a touch of gold glitter Nuvo Drops smeared around the edges finished the card.
********
Just one more New stamp set that I created with for today's post: CROWN BLOOM, it IS a Beauty of a stamp set too!
To make this card:

  • I heat embossed two large blooms of the outline layer from CROWN BLOOM with Antique Silver and then stamped the 4 remaining shaded layers with Crisp inks found in the Cherry Blossom mini set. Then I fussy cut and layered them together with Foam adhesive tape.
  • Next, I stamped all three layers of the lovely Leaf, three times using Tropical Forest mini set, fussy cut those out too. There are Coordinating dies for this set.
  • On an A2 sized card base I placed a strip of the Watercolor Strokes Washi Tape, making sure to get more of the pnk watercolor showing...now I realized the pinks weren't quite the same tone as my CROWN BLOOM, so I quickly ran the corner of the PINKOLICIOUS mini pad behind the washi to brighten it up:))
  • For more interest, I heat embossed the sweet posy in the CROWN BLOOM set so it would peek out from behind the arrangement.
  • Stamped never lose with Caribbean Sky
  • Die-cut and stacked three layers of HOPE from the cardstock inked with set RUBELLITE
  • To finish the card I added three of the negative cut strips from Gradient Stripes Cover Die, inked with Caribbean Sky

And one final card for today with the Regal CROWN BLOOM stamp set, colored with Artistic Markers: Y204, Y205, B002,G702 and just a kiss of Ziggy markers for more Beautiful Details.

  • I fussy cut the Bloom and Leaves and created a long stem.
  • Then layered it on top of a panel selectively stamped with the Rustic Linen Stamp Set and the Posy from the CROWN BLOOM set.
  • For added interest an Element of HENNAH is Embossed with Caribbean Sky Crisp Embossing Powder.
  • LABEL LOVE had the perfect sentiment to complete the card.
  • After assembling the card I decided a darker line of color was needed on the very left side., Artistic Markers to the rescue!  WG03, B204, and B313
I LOVE how this turned out and I was able to practice adding several personal touches as learned from the Beautiful Details class at Altenew Academy.

Inspired By All the Little Things

Hello all!

There is a new challenge at Inspired By All the Little Things.

Since I don't have Feathers in my stash I needed to improvise. I was inspired by the GOLD lines and shades of Blue with a pop of Chartreuse. Here is my card for today's challenge.
  • I started out by heat embossing the sentiment, SEEK the LORD, in GOLD onto Canson XL watercolor paper, A2 size.
  • Then placed a rectangle mask over the entire sentiment to create a frame
  • Next I pressed clear VersaMark through the WEATHERED WOOD stencil from STAMPlorations, that enabled me to heat embossed GOLD EP for the lines.
  • Then I quickly inked DISTRESS inks over the top
  • Pressed more clear VersaMark over all exposed areas, added CLEAR EP and heat with the heat gun for the GLASS-like shimmer
  • Adhere to a Chartreuse cardbase
  • Lift the mask and viola! card is finished
Our special guest designer is ERICA A-B from CaCacraft! Be sure to stop by her IG account too:)

Reminder post at STAMPlorations

Creating Things with Wings at STAMPlorations:))
Using the negative cuts from the large bloom in Bloomtangled #1 Cover Plate Die as my focal point.
Here is how I created the card:

  • Splashing a bit of Bumbly Bee SHIMMERZ onto a piece of white cardstock and then splattering some Sunset Strip VIBEZ for extra color and texture.
  • Trim the panel down with the largest Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Die.
  • Let that dry
  • Place the negative petal cuts from the Bloomtangled #1 Cover Plate Die in the center of the yellow splash
  • Stamp a few tiny Butterflies from Trendy Butterflies with inks from TheTon
  • Add some doodles with Pin Pens
  • Stamp the sentiment also from Trendy Butterflies

Altenew May 2018 Inspiration Challenge

Practicing the 70/20/10 rule of color use taught in the COLOR YOUR DAY class at Altenew Academy, and for the May 2018 Inspiration Challenge.

Yes, I'm wishing BIG with these blue roses from the SWEET ROSE BOUQUET:))
How I created the card:

  • With a touch of masking, I  loosely cutting around the sentiment, WISH BIG, which is ombre inked with GREEN MEADOWS mini cube set. The MISTI really helped with this type of inking.
  • To define the word BIG, I carefully added a shadow on one side with the G715 Artistic Marker. A white Gel pen made the center really pop!
  • The Pink leaves are inked with the Cherry Blossom mini cubes.
  • Then I easily placed the Rose buds, and inked all the layers with SWEET DREAMS mini cubes.
  • A soft spounged color of  PINK DIAMOND through the Watercolor Stripes stencil created a nice ballance:) and moved the color PINK into the 70% position, with BLUE at 20% and lastly, the green at 10%.
  • A few pink sequins are all the embellishment needed to finish the card with a kiss of bling.

Inspired by the colors from Laura Basson's card at the May 2018 Inspiration Challenge.
