♥PINK♥ Christmas!!!

One day left to add your PINK Christmas card!

The "Pink Christmas" prompt will run at JINGLE BELLES from 12am on Friday, October 10th to 6pm on Wednesday, October 22nd; as in previous years, Stephanie and Lauren pledge to donate $4 per linked-up card to The Susan G. Komen Foundation.
The only requirement is that all link-ups be NEW holiday cards with some noticeable pink on them... so in other words, not just Rudolph's NOSE, lol!
Participants may use sketches, combine challenges, and include any other colors in addition to pink; you can showcase however many cards you'd like in one post, don't worry, we'll still count every single one of them towards the total!
Thank you very much for your support!

The Card Concept Challenge #21 - Country and Sunflowers

This weeks challenge at The Card Concept is based on a theme:

Country and Sunflowers

Isn't this a lovely inspiration photo? Checked tablecloth, Natural twine and Golden sunflowers.  How about that painted Mason jar? Yep..Feelin' a little bit Country!

For my FREESTYLE/COLLAGE card I used a masking and heat emboss technique with a new set from STAMPlorations called Bloom Sketches.

The filler leaves/branches and what-not are from Tim Hotlz Nature's Discovery and Hero Arts' Fern and Humming bird.

After ebossing all the flowers I sponged Scattered Straw Distress ink around the edges and background. Then I watercolored the blooms with more Scattered Straw, Mustard Seed,Spiced Marmalade and Ripe Persimmon...with just a touch of Mowed Lawn and Shabby Shutters.
I masked the blooms once more and stamped all the extra foliage with PTI Dark Chocolate ink and Memento Dessert Sand.

For the Hero Arts/Sizzix Framelits butterflies I Painted Heidi Swapp GOLD Color Shine on the wings as well as making some splatters and highlights on the Blooms.

Hope you are inspired to pop over to THE CARD CONCEPT  and see all the Team's amazing cards and PLAY along! Remember all STYLES of cards are welcome:)

Mixed media Picture tutorial using Penny Black Stencil Promenade

Hello!  It's a cold, wet & rainy Monday here So I thought a picture tutorial would Brighten up the day:)
Many of my Lovely readers have asked how I created this card from this post, using the Penny Black Promenade 25-001 STENCIL.

Remembering the steps was a bit of a challenge for me because the initial Background  was a practice piece from The OLCC Watercolor for Cardmakers back in May of this year.  I don't throw card fronts away thinking they may be useful later. I picked up this front and added other stamping and sponging techniques to make up the finished card.
Here are the steps:
Sponge your color on a card front.  Leave some white space:)

Using the Penny Black Promenade 25-001 stencil and small applicator sponge the leaves, vines and blooms.

Make sure the ink is heavily sponged!

Ink up the BACK of the stencil...make sure it's the BACK--opposite side of what you just stenciled through.

Spritz the stencil with water and place it on the card front just off to the side of your sponged blooms.
****Here is the hard part...Just let it sit and air dry!! The water will pool and move under the plastic stencil. Magic happens when it dries on its own.

See the Magic?

Splash gold color shine as you wish.

Ink and stamp the Penny Black sentiment in black archival ink.

Re-ink the sentiment in another distress ink color and stamp off to the left of previous sentiment. Yes, It looks blurry.

Take a brush and clean water and gently brush over the sentiment to bring the shadow together with the black sentiment.
Place a strip of washi tape on the fold of your card. Trim the front down and adhere to the card base. Add sequins and WALLLA!!

Your card is finished!

Here are the original and the second card side by side. Each lovely in their own way... yet similar in technique.
Hope you enjoyed the tutorial and PLEASE ask if  there is anything that is not clear.
Give it a try...I'd LOVE to see what you come up with:)

I'll be linking up to the SSS Wednesday Challenge : Use Watercolor.

Virginia's View Challenge # 8---CAS

Hello! Just popping in to post a watercolor card I worked on for  Virginia's View Challenge # 8.
Clean and Simple is not my thing..But I gave it a go with some new stamps from Wplus9.
I used a tiny stamp from Pretty Little Peonies for the center of the flowers. Inked it up in Seedless Preserves Distress Ink and stamped on watercolor paper.. Then I took my watercolor brush and pulled the color for the petals out with clean clear water. The Magic of Distress did the rest:)

I used Wild Honey distress marker for the very center of each flower. And drew in some doodles with a black pen.

Various shades of green Distress make up the leaves.

The sentiment is inked in both Seedless Preserves and Shaded Lilac. The whole thing mounted on Gingham paper.
That's it:)..My version of CAS.
Hope you like it!
