Playing a little Tic-Tac-Toe for the new challenge at The Ton for the month of MAY.
I created two cards using GOLD-STRIPES-WATERCOLOR
(goming with the stripes in the single butterfly...and stripes of words in the BG on the other)
For the first card:
- I stamped a large butterfly from BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLIES 3 with Smoky Quartz dye ink on watercolor paper.
- Then I added a wash of color with Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolor - 36 Colors.... allowed it to dry completely
- Colored the butterfly with Zig Markers: 026, 084, 092, 095, 097, 099, 200, 303
- Trimmed the panel and wrapped it with DMC Diamant Metallic Thread 38.2yd - Light Gold
- Mated it with pink CS onto a white card base
- Embellished with Rosy Petals couture Mix using TOMBOW mono glue
- Sentiment from Lone Poppy is heat embossed with Ranger Embossing Powder - Gold Tinsel onto black CS
For the second card:
- On watercolor paper I stamped the butterflies from BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLIES 3 with Smoky Quartz dye ink
- Added a wash if blues with Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolor - 36 Colors
- Allowed it to dry completely
- Heat embossed the four butterflies with Ranger Embossing Powder - Gold
- Cut them out from the front panel using the coordinating dies
- Colored the wings with Zig Markers: 027, 061, 082, 202, 222
- Repeat stamped the sentiment from The New Pretty with Smoky Quartz dye ink...to create stripes of words
- Stamped the sentiment from Hello Hummingbird in NOIR black ink
- Added black Splatters
- Trimmed the panel down with Double Stitched rectangles dies (small)
- Matted it with sky blue CS and a white card base
- Glued the butterflies back into place with TOMBOW mono and added a bit of shadow
Hope to see your card in the challenge gallery..you can LINK to it here. There is a generous $50 gift certificate to the SHOP for one winner:))
Happy creating!

Oh my goodness, LauraJane! These are stunning! Absolutely stunning. That first butterfly...be still my heart. I love the colors and the blends of colors. Wow. The delicate gold thread holding the sentiment is perfect. On the second card...the gold embossing is beautiful and, again, the colors on the butterflies are beautiful. Fabulous work! Thanks so much for sharing! :)
