I took time to complete a card yesterday for the Altenew January 2018 Inspiration Challenge.
Making cards with DIE cuts only is so much FUN!! Anti-Stress therapy, actually:)) So why all the die-cutting? Well, I've been learning many new tips and tricks by participating in the Dynamic Die-Cutting class at Altenew Academy. The fee for class is under $10, and well worth the money! Plus with lifetime access, one can always go back and brush-up on some dynamic techniques. I've learned to look at Dies in a whole new way:))
I started out first, by playing around with the Crisp inks and masking tape as Erum, hostess of the challenge, shared in her post here. Then I added LOTS of splatters and Smooshes of dots with a small foam applicator.
Next, I reached for the new Creative Edges: Lace Die and trimmed the panel down.
In playing with the Lace Die on it's own I found that a double sided trimm could be achieved by lining up the dots at the straight edge and cutting a second time. The thinner solid die cut trim is made by lining up the scalloped edges and leaving a small gap then cutting a second time on the yellow Card stock. The width of this trimm cna be any size needed for a project:))
And realized that hand stitching could be added for extra texture:)) Just a simple straight stitch is all it took to attach the lace yellow trim to the background panel.
For the focal point of the card I decided white on white would make this project more CAS.
The Floral Fantasy 3D die set takes very little effort to line up for a pretty bloom! A few french knots added to the center used up the tiny bit of floss left in the needle:) Then I layered several bits from the Create A Wreath Die Set, cut from White CS also.
And for the final Sentiment, the Flower Arrangement Die set contributed the perfect font to match the feminine feel to this card. I cut two layers of THANK YOU, stacked them up with dot glue tape.and popped them into place. An easy way to get the tape onto such a small/thin die cut is to leave the cut in place of it's original piece of paper and run the glue tape along the cut lines...stack the next layer of die cut on top of that, then pop it out all ready to go onto the project.
Hope you enjoyed my ALL DIE CUT card. It was a JOY to create!
See you next time,
LauraJane:)
