Altenew Inspirational Blog Hop | Embellishments | with VIDEO

*******
Have you seen Altenew’s Embellishments Collection website landing page? The site makes it SO easy to shop for exactly what you are looking for! Today I am participating in a BLOG HOP sharing cards that featuring EMBELLISHMENTS of all kinds!

I 've been making TINY TASSELS to bump up the Glamour factor on projects. The Metallic Thread from Altenew is ideal for making them. The only other supplies needed are a FORK and SCISSORS.

I captured the process on VIDEO for you to watch, as explaining HOW in words is rather difficult.

Watch the SHORT video HERE
  • Start with 6 pieces of  Metallic Thread cut at 18 inches long
  • Take one and fold it in half
  • place that piece in the middle space of a dinner fork and hold the ends down with the handle
  • Take 4 pieces of thread together and weave them in and out of the fork tines, creating a basket weave
  • Take the first thread in the middle up and secure the weave together with 2 knots, making it as tight as possible, this is the end tail of the tassel
  • slide the weave off the fork
  • Fold the bundle in half at the top holding the secured middle thread tail
  • take the last thread and fold it so there is a short end and long end with a small loop sort of in the middle, this is the wrapping thread
  • Hold that wrapping piece on the folded end of the bundle pinching tightly with finger tips
  • Take the longer of the two ends from the wrapping thread and wind it around 6-8 times close to the top of the bundle
  • feed the end of the long wrapping thread through the back of the loop
  • gently pull the loop closed with the shorter end of the wrapping thread to secure the wrap, this will bury the knot inside the wrap, a little macramé trick
  • Trim the ends of the tassel with scissors to shape it up
Tassels can be used as toppers for tags as well a added embellishments for thread nests.

I've never been very good at making tassels, but following your video I think I can do it now! The tassels are great on cards, but I especially love them on tags. They need something special to hang them. Your projects are all awesome!💜
