Lotus on water

Hello! Where did August go??? and SUMMER? It's hard to believe that September is upon us!
It is what it is:))
So I've been pondering the August 2016 Inspiration Challenge: Flamingo Inspiration at Altenew all month. I new I wanted to use the Lotus stamp set as Therese did for her card. I was very inspired by the video she posted as well.
I set to work on making the card last night ..the deadline for the challenge is tomorrow!
I inked the layers of Lotus in crisp inks: Blush, Frosty Pink and Cotton Candy. Then went back with the outline stamps and re-inked with Coral Berry. The leaves were inked in Evening Gray and Forest Glade for the outlines.
I then got my Ziggys out and added the feathered brush strokes and detail.
For the water reflection I stamped the solid images lightly underneath the blooms in the medium colors from above and then swiped Distress Stains: Broken China, Brushed Pewter and Picket Fence across that. Moon Rock and Arctic straight from the mini ink pad added the shadows or ripples for the water. I'm very pleased with how this turned out:))
Upon showing it to my DH and asking where the Sentiment should go, We decided "less was more" and "to ADD a sentiment would only take away". So I left it alone and placed the finished panel on a card base embossed with silver at the bottom.

I do need a sympathy card for a friend, This will do nicely.

HoneyBee Stamps August release Honey Hop

Good Morning Honey Bees! Welcome to our August release Honey Hop!!!
I am so very excited about this release!
All this week we have been showing you little sneaks of our awesome new stamp sets and dies! Tomorrow our new release goes live and to celebrate we are showing you some beautiful projects, Today!!!
I used ZEN BOUQUET stamp set. This is a HUGE set, with one Large image and several smaller single images for building your own Bouquet.
I chose to use the large image:) and I wanted a FOLKSY wood colored look to my watercoloring of the gorgeous Bouquet:))
Here are the steps in making the card:
After masking off 1/4" around a A2 sized CS.
I placed the bouquet image stamp in the full sized MISTI and inked it with Kraft colored dye ink.

Then, I selectively inked the image with the brush side of Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers, spritzed it with water and then pressed it onto the CS.
  • Sometimes I re-spritzed to get more color "hazing or halo"
  • Repeated the marker inking step several times with different colors until I was happy with wash of colors.
  • Then I went back with the fine tipped end of the marker to add more detail.

Aqua colors used
And a close-up of the added KINDNESS HoneyCuts and sequins

NOW for the Hop deets....

Papertrey Ink AUGUST 2016 BLOG HOP CHALLENGE

Hello!

I'm Hopping along with the gals at Papertrey Ink:) for the  AUGUST 2016 BLOG HOP CHALLENGE.
And combining it with MAKE IT MONDAY #258: COVER PLATE TAGS.

Here are the makings of my tag:

  • I used the Cover plate and paper from MIM mini kit GARDEN GILD. The papers happen to have the perfect Colors to go with this month's Inspiration photo.

photograph from VSCO

  • Placed the die just a bit above the Gold Foiled images on the paper to get a shadow effect.
  • Ran that through the BigKick with the Stitched Tag die.

I was able to get 3 tags from the A2 sized paper:))

The assembled Project:

  • I used the large tag for my finished project.
  • Did some string art stitching at the top with gold metallic thread..
  • Cut some individual leaves and blooms to add to the top of the die cut cover plate portion for more visual interest.
  • Then chose some Chicken Scratch PP cut with the Noted:Scalloped Square die, trimmed and Watercolor paper die cut with the A2 Noted Scalloped frame.
  • The SCRIPTED die was cut from a Luxe Gold Adhesive Sheet and layered onto three pieces of CS cut from the same die to give it dimension.
  • Three Martha Stewart punched butterflies happily joined the floral party:)

Here is a close up of the string art stitching:

I thrilled how this turned out:)
Thanks for stopping by!! Enjoy the hop!

POP of Color

Hello! I'm joining in on the August Challenge at ABNH where a POP of COLOR is the theme.
The Ton is the Sponsor for this one and I wanted to create with the Graceful Rose stamp set and Geometric Lattice Cover Plate.

  • I started out by creating a panel of "newsprint" CS and stamped the rose with Dark Roast dye ink from The Ton. Heat embossed the rose in clear for a nice sharp coloring line:))
  • Then I smooshed the inkpad onto my craft mat and colored the rose with my waterbrush and just a bit of Dark Brown Ziggy.
  • Fussy cut the rose and set it aside.
  • I found another panel that had the Floral Border Cling stamp inked with Lemon Drop Dye and and Vanilla Cupcake.
  • Cut the Geometric Lattice Cover Plate from PTI RUSTIC WHITE cardstock.
Here are the three pieces before putting them together.

I felt the Lattice and Floral Border was a bit to stark so I sponged some Dark Roast onto them...then the Floral border panel was too dark so I swiped Hampton White Pigment ink acrossed it. Not sure if I was pleased with all the darkening outcome but could not go back from there:))

The POP of COLOR was the Lemon Drop colored banner with the sentiment and Pink Lemonade Couture mix. (I DO LOVE the names of the products at The Ton:)) they are often food related!)

Thanks for stopping by!
Hope you take some time to create soon:))

Essentials by Ellen Pin-Sights challenge

Hello!

I am super excited to guest design for Essentials by Ellen PIN-SIGHTS CHALLENGE! Thank you Laurel for inviting me :)) I do LOVE the Essentials by Ellen dies and stamps designed by Julie Ebersole found ONLY at Ellen Hutson. Creating with their goodies is always a pleasure.

Essentials by Ellen Pin-Sights challenge is a monthly inspirational challenge based on a Pinterest Inspired photo that is located on the CLASSroom blog
The inspiration photo for the challenge.

I was inspired by the row of chairs and bright blooms in the top right of the inspiration photo.
Here is my card:
I had the pleasure of using MONDO HYDRANGEA stamp set and BE-YOU-TIFUL die for this project. At the end of this post you will find all the other supplies used.

  • Starting out I inked the single blooms onto watercolor paper and began coloring them in with Kuretake Gansai Tambi, 36 Color Set.  As you can see in the photo the last one got smudged:(( not to worry!

  • Next I cut several masks and stamped the large leaf image repeatedly

  •  Ziggys and PIT pens have become my favorite coloring mediums for detail. I used them to add depth and shadows to the blooms and leaves.

  • Then I cut SEVERAL Be-YOU-tiful dies from white CS and glued them onto the white space off to the right of the leaves; being careful to "tuck" the words under by cutting the edges of leaves with a craft knife.
  • Added a bit of watercolor stripes on the left of the leaves..this makes me HAPPY!! and added more shadows with the COOL GRAY ziggy
  • I used irRESISTible Pico Embellisher, Copper for the tiny dots for each bloom

  • To finish the card I heat embossed the sentiment in COPPER EP from Hero Arts onto Vellum. Wrapped that around my card front and called it DONE:))..see how that last bloom looks as good as the first with vellum over it?

Hope this inspires you to play along at the  Essentials by Ellen Pin-Sights challenge It was an honor guesting:))

REMEMBER!

A random challenge participant will receive a $50 gift certificate to the Ellen Hutson store.
To be eligible, you MUST use Essentials by Ellen products and the photo badge as inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by!

Take 2: CALLING ALL ARTISTS - SPECIAL CHALLENGE

Happy Saturday!!
I have a second card for the CALLING ALL ARTISTS - SPECIAL CHALLENGE at Ellen Hutson's PIN-SIGHTS CHALLENGE.
After seeing this gate fold card tutorial from Jennifer Mcguire, I simply had to see if it was just that easy:))..and it was!

  • I started out by making my card 4.25x11" scored on 3.25 and 2.5 on the other end.
  • Used a scalloped edge border die for the gate fold cut.
  • Stamped the KINDNESS from HoneyBee and sparkles from My Monthly Hero kit on the top panel
  • Cut a few leaves from Essentials By Ellen WILD GARDEN and adhered them to the lower panel which I inked in Altenew's SEA GLASS

Opening up the lower panel reveals a tiny mushroom/toadstool scene I stamped from the My Monthly Hero kit and colored with my Ziggys:)..and a few more leaves from Wild Garden.

Open the top fold to see the "BLESSED me" sentiment.

...as an afterthought I think I should add HAS above the Blessed.
What do you think?

This was an exciting project to create as I went along:))
