Refresh Your Alcohol Markers Blog Hop + Giveaway + Video
Hello and Welcome to my stop on the Altenew Refresh Your Alcohol Markers Blog Hop.You should be arriving from Zinia Redo's blog. The full Hop list is at the end of this post. YAY! for Artist Marker Re-Fills!!
I'm so excited that the Re-fills have been released, as my markers were needing to be freshened! And NOW I can really use the markers for more than just coloring:) Since the Re-Fills are Alcohol based, it's like a two-fer. Alcohol inks that match the Altenew Crisp Inks! I LOVE IT!! No extra products cluttering up my shelves..I NEEDED these Re-fills:) Altenew sent Set A for me try out..and I plan on purchasing the B set and C set too, since I have #fullsetsyndrome when it comes to the coloring mediums by Altenew.
After seeing all the Gorgeous Alcohol inked backgrounds on social media, I had been wanting to try creating some too. I created with the Re-Fills that are in RED COSMOS mini ink set: Frosty Pink,Coral Berry, Ruby Red, and Grapevine.
Here's a card I made after creating an Alcohol Inked background using the Re-Fills:
Make this card:
Using the Coral Berry, Frosty Pink, Ruby Red, and Grapevine refills as an alcohol medium on Alcohol Ink paper
then I stamped the Holiday Bow with black ink over the background I created
used the Holiday Bow die to quickly cut out the bow and Creative Edges: Lace Die
stitched Black Floss through the Lace Die
Layered them on a card front with the Rustic Linen to create a simple card
stamped a sentiment from Blessings stamp set in Black ink
*************************
The card above inspired a stitching project where I actually dyed white embroidery floss with the Coral Berry marker Refill, I have a really quick video showing the process.
While the floss was drying I stamped the solid image from Holiday Bow on 100% cotton fabric, then I put it in a hoop and did a simple back stitch as an outline to the bow. I went back in with Artist Markers once the stitching was finished to add more details. Then I used the Ruby Red and Grapevine markers to color the bamboo hoop, which coordinates whole thing together :)
A simple stitched outline on a stamped image can create a 'Toot Sweet" Hoop Art project! I have a video of the entire process. Watch the Stitched Holiday Bow video below or in HD on my YouTube channel.
Coordinating paper from Reflections Scrapbook kit finishes the back of the hoop perfectly using the Circle die form Half Tone circles and a name tag plate cut with Dot Labels die.

I thought I was finished playing with the Marker Re-fills, but my kids wanted to play with some shrink plastic, and of course I wanted to play along as well!
Layered Rose die, Inline Alpha die, and Leafy Wreath dies cut beautifully on the shrink plastic. I colored all the die cut images with Artist Markers and popped them in the toaster oven to watch the magic happen. My images are now one third there original size..and SOOO SWEET!!
Take a Look:
After the pieces had cooled, I simpley glues them together on two heart shapes that had been shrunk as well. the Leafy Wreath was easily snapped in smallr pieces to fit onto my projects
Hope you enjoyed my projects today!

Wow... what cool projects! I especially love the shrink art one. I recently bought a bunch and made some tiny earrings. But I love the idea of using some floral stamps! Thanks for sharing!
What fun projects, Laura Jane. Love the hoop and now have some inspiration as to what to do with my leftover fabric from my cross-stitching days. And I really love the shrink plastic projects, especially with a name on it.
I was so excited to see Altenew now has Alcohol Ink refills, I love making backgrounds with alcohol inks and I love Altenew colors so it's a win, win for me! Your projects are amazing as always, thanks for all the inspiration!
What pretty projects! I had never thought to stamp and color on fabric before - what a great idea! I love that you stitched around it as well! Thanks for the inspiration!
You made so many great projects using the markers and refills. Loved them all but my grandaughter's name is Lucy, so the shrink plastic is dear to my heart! Thanks for sharing all of these great ideas.

Laura Jane, you insightful bird of paradise! I'm just going to start throwing Leslie Knope-style compliments at you, because these are such cool ideas. They make me think of my crafting supplies in totally different ways, and they are always such a fun surprise. Thank you for sharing your creative mind with us!
Gorgeous set of projects, loving dying the thread, that is so brilliant & is the best way of getting stitched bits to match cards exactly. Loved seeing all this inspiration in one place.
Hadn't thought about shrink art in a long time. Going to see if I can find my plastic and put it to use. Fun to play with the kids - love to hear it. Fantastic projects. thanks for sharing. txmlhl(at)yahoo(dot)com
Your house is full of crafty goodness. This card is beautiful. Dying the floss, genius. I didn't think the shrink plastic was even around any more.. so sweet.
Wow Laura Jane! I love your unique uses for the alcohol inks! Sooooo creative and lovely! I think I'll try both dying the embroidery floss and die cutting and coloring the plastic shrink wrap for embellishments :) Thanks for the inspiration!
OH my goodness, I missed this the first time around on hop day, I absolutely love the shrink plastic projects! I just did a shaker project with shrink plastic. see here: https://inkylageney.wordpress.com/2018/09/29/2018-c133-tim-holtz-shrink-film-shaker-card/
