This post is also part of the Blog Hop starting at the Altenew Card BlogThere are prizes for commenting on each of the blogs on the list, which I've provided at the end of this post. You're not going to want to miss a single stop!!
Take a look at the Paint-A-Flower: Rose set below:

The open Rose blooms and varied flora in the arrangement of the largest image allows for practice in watercoloring..and the smaller image is similar yet makes for quicker finished projects.
I'm so excited to share the samples I have created with you as part of the Blog Hop celebrating the release of the Second Paint-A-Flower (PAF.

I really enjoyed painting the Paint-A-Flower: Rose using the new Artists' Watercolor 24 Pan Set!!
I first stamped the large arrangement onto Distress watercolor paper with Warm Sunshine Crisp ink. Then I set to adding the watercolor from the Artists' Watercolor 24 Pan Set, working on elements that don't touch each other for better definition.
Once I was happy with the watercoloring:

  • I quickly made a mask by outlining the colored arrangement onto printer paper and fussy cut it out.
  • Placed the mask over the colored image
  • Randomly stamped a background with Dot Botanicals Stamp Set
  • Then trimmed the panel down; cutting a wee bit around a few of the berries on the left edge for interest
  • popped the panel onto an A2 card base with Dots in Maple washi tape as embellishment.
  • Finished by adding the sentiment in the upper corner; inked several times with Espresso

I LOVE how the watercolors can be VIBRANT as well as translucent depending on how mush water is added.Using a #2 and 000 brush allowed for different intensity of color too. When using the 000 brush, I go from wet paint pan directly to image for details in the branches and leaves.
*******
For the next card I used the smaller image from the set, inking it twice in the middle of a card front using Enchanted Gold Pigment Ink. Then coloring with the Artist Markers and my favorite Colorless Blender, which can be used for a watercolored look.
The sentiment is from the Warm Hugs Stamp Set.
I have a video share of a third card showing how I color with the Artist Markers and Colorless Blender for a quick watercolor look. You can watch the video below or on my You Tube channel.

*******
That's all from me today.

Your watercoloring techniques are stunning. Love the maple tape with the first one---matches the new watercolors perfectly! And I appreciate the tips on the sizes of brushes that work best for you. I am never sure about that. Will be coming back to this post to put your ideas to paper myself. Love the paint a flower release!

The yellow rose card is exquisite. Yellow roses were my MOm's fave. We lost her a year ago and today is my birthday, so the yellow roses were like a hello from her.
