Altenew is collaborating with the amazing Kathy Racoosin from The Daily Marker to inspire crafters to find joy through coloring. Kathy is celebrating her 16th 30 Day Coloring Challenge until 5/7/2020. Please encourage your followers/blog visitors to participate in the 30 Day Coloring Challenge by coloring something and share it on social media using the hashtag #TheDailyMarker30Day. We hope they find “Me Time” and enjoy the benefits that coloring will give.
I LOVE to color and Kathy Racoosin has been a huge influence for me. Her challenge #TheDailyMarker30Day is a fun way to get that 10 minutes of coloring a day in as well as supporting other colorists by LIKING/commenting/ Encouraging them as they share their colored projects on social media. I've participated in several years of the challenge and enjoyed being an Ambassador for Kathy and her 7th challenge. Coloring 10 minutes a day, has increased my skills and is a great stress reliever too!
Below you can see two projects I've been working on for today's post using the Artists' Watercolor 24 Pan Set.
After allowing the flowers to dry, I created a cluster that looks like Hollyhocks on top of a Flowing Drops Stencil. and finished with a strip of Golden Strokes Washi tape and Sequins - Antique Gold.
Let me tell you a bit about this Background. It was created as Homework for Day 2 Demystifying Mixed Media at Altenew Academy When creative MOJO is low, the classes at the Academy are my first source of inspiration! I highly recommend looking into them :)

And now I am again reminded how blessed we are to have access to so many outline flower stamps at Altenew, because what I paint is no where near as realistic as what I was hopping for!
Good ol' splatters and color washes to make it look like I meant it to be that way :)))
Dancing Tulips among the Forget-Me-Nots
Sending Colorful Blessings your way.

Thanks for stopping by!
Hoping that my cards inspire your next masterpiece!!

Recently I have really been drawn to the maroon colors. I love your blue combinations.
These are both gorgeous - love your free-hand flower, maybe you should be designing florals for Altenew!!
I really like the impressionist look of you coloring! So pretty!!
Good look at some loose coloring. Nice combination of stencil and washi tape.

I love the soft edges of all your flowers! Beautiful colors too!
Wow!!! Stunning watercoloring!!!
Fairly certain that gobsmacked is the right word to use here. Absolutely brilliantly beautiful.
LauraJane, I often times believe your art should be in a frame and you have proven me right as you put your picture in a frame. The colors are so gorgeous and make beautiful flowers and background. A designers delight. Thank you for sharing.
Wow! I love the mixing of colours you did here! The wall art is gorgeous. :)
Beautiful card-love the colors!
LauraJane, looks like you were in your happy place having a whole lot of fun! Wow, what a stunning watercolor!

I'm absolutely in awe of your watercoloring skill! This is just stunning! I love how much beauty you've created with the little pans - and these colors (as Kathy taught us in the 30 day) color pluck so well together! I could stare at your watercolor frame quite often - so inspiring. TFS!
Your work is just gorgeous and the framed one is a just amazing. Love them both! Awesome job! :)
Both designs are beautiful! You are too hard on yourself.
Gorgeous rich watercolouring, Laura Jane! Love these cards! Stay safe! :)
Stunning! Loving the background, great back drop for drop dead flowers. Loving the colors. Beautiful stamp and die set. Congrats on a beautiful hand drawn flowers, loving that you framed and have it hanging - true inspiration.
Love those flowers against the stenciled BG
Beautiful cards!! I especially love your second one!
I love the color combination on your lovely card. Thank you for sharing them both.
I love your free hand painting even more than the first card. Both are beautiful and the second one looks amazing in a frame. It would look fantastic over my nightstand.
How bright and cheery!! I love the looseness and freestyle of the colors. Sometimes letting the colors get a little messy is the perfect way to create a beautiful card!!
Another impossibly beautiful card. I would love to see some pictures of this at different stages. So lovely -- thank you.
Bright vivid painterly colors, nice job
Love the colour combination you used.
Hi LauraJane :) I love your messy watercoloring cards!!! The color palettes, composition and embellishments are all great! Thanks for inspiring me :)
Gorgeous - I love that loose, flowing, artsy look of those florals and love the colours you chose!
Beautiful card! Messy watercolor is my favorite painting technique
You have a very interesting watercolour style. Thank you for sharing.
I would frame your messy watercolors any day! I was not sure where you were going with all the free standing flowers then I went back and read where you die cut them.. the fine print. Then you made your bouquet. Took a look at that stencil, and went and put it on my wish list. Thanks. Staying home, reading, crafting, blog hopping and staying safe. You all take care.
These are both beautiful and I'm always interested to see what others watercolor. Sometimes, when watercoloring I end up with something I want to frame, but not as often as I would like. Lol! Thanks for sharing your beautiful work!
Your work is beautiful. I love the flowers. I don't miss the lines.
Even your "hot mess" is beautiful! I am inspired to practice watercoloring so maybe someday I may create something as lovely as these cards!
Love that free form of yours! It actually works. The purple and blue colors are just right. Thank you LauraJane!, Denise
I love the dancing tulips... your first painting reminds me so much of the sweet pea colors we have growing all around my garden each year! Love those colors. Thank you for sharing and dont sell yourself short on the freehand watercoloring. You Rock!
Your water colored flowers look lovely loosely done. I enjoy the pinks and purples! And the class inspired background looks greatas a compliment to your fleurs! Cheers!
SWOON!! Such a BEAUTIFUL Card and Painting Laura Jane!! I LOVE the Colors and the loose watercoloring technique!! THANKS for sharing and have a FABULOUS WEEK!!
Ooh super colorful and beautiful work!! Love your choice of colors and coloring! <3
Your cards are absolutely gorgeous. I haven't tried the "messy" watercolor technique, but you've inspired me -- I'm definitely giving it a try!
Just fabulous! I love how free your flowers are, just awesome!
O, Laura Jane! Why would you ever want realistic when you can have this wonderful free hand watercolor?!?!? I love these colors and the edge of the water leaves a natural "outline." The softer shadow type images only add to the beauty of your creation. the tiny blue flowers are a little more crisp and draw my eye by contrast. The greenery has lovely shading in the exact right color of green so as to not overpower the flowers-- a great balance. Personally, I prefer your freehand piece to the stamped one. Thanks so much for showing both of these lovely creations.
I love how abstract and lose the water colour is. Beautiful!
I liked your impressionist painting more than the stamped one!
Gorgeous cards! Love your beautiful color combos for these lovely flowers!
Beautiful coloring!!
You have certainly blessed us with this lovely card!
