Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Poppy Release Blog Hop + Giveaway +Video

Hello friends!
Altenew has an exciting new monthly subscription feature this year called Paint-A-Flower (PAF).. similar to the Build-A-Flower (BAF). There will be a new outline flower stamp set each month that can be painted to practice your watercoloring skills. AND just because it says paint doesn't mean we can't color it as well with Artist Markers!

I'm honored to be guest designing for this first Paint-A-Flower Blog Hop starting on the Altenew Blog! Introducing the PAF:Poppy!

I have three cards created using three different coloring mediums.
As I'm still learning to use watercolors, I wanted to begin by painting with the 36 pan set from Altenew. Then I used the watercolor brush markers, and finally, I wanted to show a third option of no-line coloring using the Artist Markers.
So to have a true comparison of mediums, I tried to stick with the same colors from each: Watercolor pans, Watercolor Brush, and Artist Markers. Altenew has the unique system throughout their coloring mediums where everything has same name referring to colors throughout their product line

Take a closer look at each card:

For this first card I used the Watercolors from the 36 pan set after heat embossing the PAF:POPPY as well as several leaves in Black. Then I fussy cut around the poppy and leaves and popped them onto a background stenciled with the Square Weave Pattern Stencil.

Colors used from the 36 Pan set:
Fresh Lemon
Sunkissed
Purple Wine
Mountain Mist
Sea Glass
Bamboo
Evergreen
 *******
This next one is Colored with the Artist Markers in the No-line coloring technique after first stamping the PAF:POPPY in Buttercream Crisp ink.

Warm Sunshine
Sunkissed
Purple Wine
Mountain Mist
Sea Glass
Bamboo
Evergreen
*******
And for the last one, I used the Watercolor Brush Markers to color a wild bunch of PAF:POPPIES.

Fresh Lemon
Sunkissed
Purple Wine
Turquoise
Lime
Sweet Leaf

I have a VIDEO capture of these poppies :) You can watch below or on my YouTube channel.

The Paint-A-Flower stamp sets are released monthly and celebrate the beauty of a wide variety of flowers! Each stamp set features an outline image of a gorgeous floral arrangement, just waiting to be painted or colored with your favorite medium. There's no need for you to spend time layering and masking images, as we have designed these sets to allow you to stamp once then color! We can't wait to see what you create!

Spellbinders January'20 Glimmer Kit Add On - "Snarky Hearts"

Hello Friends!!
I have a couple of cards featuring the SNARKY HEARTS GLIMMER HOT FOIL PLATE & DIE SET from Spellbinders. I think they are a versatile supply that can be used all year. Having them made up ahead of time to use as elements of interest on my cards will be handy.

This set is an ADD-On to the January 2019 Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month set, Signed, Sealed, Delivered. I do not have that Glimmer Kit but it didn't stop me from creating:))

My favorite way of using the Glimmer Plates is the Faux Letterpress technique. Which means no Foil is required. It's Super Quick and Easy too!

Take a look:
To make these paper Pastel Candy Hearts:

  • I simply placed all the Snarky Heart Glimmer Plates onto 110# Neenah White CS and ran them through my cutting machine with the Embossing Rubber mat . This created a full panel of letterpressed hearts with the snarky sentiments raised in the middle.
  • Next I used the heart shaped die to cut each one out.
  • Blending brushes made short work of inking them up to look like pretty pastel candies!
  • Then I took an alcohol marker and carefully lined the raised sentiment with color.
  • Finally, I glued them in a random cluster to my cardfront... as if they were tumbling out of a bag of candy.

How FUN is that?!?
*******
LOOK how cute this  Snarky Heart is as an accent paired with goodies from the  Spellbinders January 2020 Card Kit: Love the Moment.

*****
Tell me. Do you like to Glimmer all the things?? Have you tried the Faux Letterpress technique to stretch your supplies??

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today..Hope you are inspired to #NeverStopMaking!

LauraJane :)

Layering Guide

Build-A-Flower: Triumph Tulip & Ink Bundle(5% discount)
This is a fabulously versatile set featuring two multi stamp tulip blooms and 3 leaves with some of the best filler images to up your creative game!! Layering these tulips is easy with the guide found in the set.
I have created three cards for today using the Build-A-Flower : Triumph Tulip.
Take a closer look:)
For this first card I used the tiny branch images to create a wreath background for the layered Triumph Tulips that are die cut and paired with more die cut elements from the set.

Supplies used:
Crisp inks: Frosty Pink, Morning Frost, Evening Gray, Aqualicious, Mountain Mist
 *******

I'll let you in on a secret.
We are expecting our second grand baby any day now..and the surprise of the baby's gender will not be revealed until he/she arrives. Yes, our family is old fashioned that way.
So in light of that happiness I wanted to have a Blue card on hand, as well as the pink card above, ready for the big day!

To achieve these blue Triumph Tulips, I mixed Aqualicious, Tide Blue, Mountain Mist, and Volcanic Lake on the different layers. The leaves are inked with Morning Frost and Evening Gray. And the tiny sprigs are inked with Frosty Pink and details added with the R302 Artist Marker.
The String Art Rectangles Die Set provided a straight line of holes for stitchng the bakers twine trough.
*******
For this last one I did some No-line coloring using the Artist Markers and 0 Colorless Blender. I have a video capture of my coloring process.
Artist Marker Colors used:
0 Colorless Blender
S Black
C001, Y205, Y204, Y212
G702, G554, G804, G825, G935

Sea Breeze Crisp Ink

You can watch the video below or on my YouTube channel.

Spellbinders January 2020 Card Kit: Love the Moment

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year!!

Today I have 6 cards using the Spellbinders January 2020 Card Kit: Love the Moment.
This kit features a super sleek car die and a fun heart shaped balloon with L-O-V-E dies for the center of those balloons.
Take a look at everything that comes in the kit:
All six cards at a glance:

I enjoyed playing with the Dies, Die cut shapes, and Stickers from the kit. I find that grouping the various elements together is a way to relax and make quick cards.

See the coool GOLD speedster created with the thin metal dies? The Black car is a Sticker.
Using both of the LOVE always die cut shapes and stacking them on top of each other with with the foam dots in the kit creates a fun decoupage look to the card.
I LOVE the sparkle of the dimensional gems in the kit!
Since the Golden zebra is another mode of transportation I grouped it with the cards with CARS in the photos:))

This next group of cards simply features all the EXTRAS that can be purchased without the kit.. The pattern papers are LOVLEY and the realistic flower Die Cut shapes dreamy!!

Those golden Glitter leaves are SUPER glittery!! Complimenting the Golden foil accents on many of the elements.
Placing the sticker sentiments onto strips of pattern paper helps to make them stand out.
The card below is my favorite! Flowers, Blue Dutch China and Geographic pattern paper....YUMMM!!!
I hope you have enjoyed my parade of cards featuring the  Love the Moment KOM from Spellbinders!!

January Club Kit Extras: items that can be purchased separately from the kit, without a subscription.
EXTRAS:
