Muse: ChristmasVisions 12: Marika Rahtu

I simply could not miss playing at the Muse: ChristmasVisions 12 this week, as the MUSE is the ever so delightful MARIKA RAHTU!  You all know how influential her coloring videos have been for me:)  It was a pleasure to get some of my Purple Onion Stamps out and create a scene in the corner:)
Here is my card:

The MUSE card from Marika

I chose to stick to the colors Marika used in her card however, I used my Disstress markers.

After coloring the images I added a few stars from
Waffle Flower Holiday Labels: Merry stamp set.

My youngest son, Mark, wanted to play along:)
Here is his card: He enjoyed making a stack of gifts like Marika did!

Learning from Marika: CASEd

Hello!
Today I have a card simply stamped and colored following  many helpful instructions from Marika Rahtu. You may be familiar with her beautifully colored cards using ALTENEW stamps. I find her coloring videos filled with thoughtful insight on how to make flowers come to life on the paper!

Here is my card:

Inks and INKTENSE watercolor pencils I used.
And the colors for the background wash.

I flat out copied the composition from Marika's card here. The  Lacy Scrolls stamps helped in keeping the white highlights on the end of the petals.
Over-all I'm happy with the flowers. Still planning on practicing MUCH more:)
THANK YOU so much Marika in sharing so much with your readers...You are a SUPER teacher!

Supplies:
  • Paper: Neenah Solor White
  • Stamps:  Altenew LACY SCROLLS, Bejeweled and Painted Butterflies
  • Inks: SSS Green Apple, Cotton Candy, Black
  • Pencils: Inktense Watercolor

STAMPlorations Sketch Challenge #36

Here's my card for the Sketch challenge at STAMPlorations.

I used texture paste on the stencil and WOW embossing powder. Fussy cut the butterfly out and scraped some of the extra, not supposed to be there, powder off with the edge of a craft knife.
That is the feathery blue inside the wings.  I liked the effect:)

The sketch has a wonderful Mixed media feel to it...HOPE you play along!

Be sure to stop by STAMplorations to see all the DT cards.

Freestyle Summer Anemones from Wplus9

Good Sunday to ya! Hope your weekend has been relaxing:)
I had a chance to play with  Watercolored Anemones from Wplus 9.  The color combo is from
Here is my freestyle quick stamping with the Anemones set as well as a few tiny stamps from More Fresh Cuts and Pretty Little Peonies.
I enjoyed how easy the flowers came together without much fuss of getting the stamp layers exact!
Like DAWN says in many of her watercolor videos, the brain will fill in the details with just a hint of a flower shape:)

Thanks for stopping by and have a Blessed day!

Learning to color with ZIG markers

I took some time to play with a new favorite stamp set and worked with the Zig Clean Color real brush markers some more. Figuring out what paper works best with the ZIG markers has been a challenge.
I started out with  RANGER SPECIALTY STAMPING PAPER, stamped and heat embossed the flower images several times. then set to coloring with these ZIG colors for the the background panel.

  • First, I went over the flower images one at a time with water from the waterbrush . Then added color directly from the makers, adding more water and darker color as needed.
  • Then I wanted to create a woodgrain look behind the flowers so I simply flicked small strokes of various colors on the panel and moved the colors around with the  waterbrush.
  • I drew some stems for each flower and stamped several leaves and colored them. Not spending much time.
  • The word THANKS is the last layer I stamped in SSS FOG throughout the panel.
  • A few wraps of colored thread and  PPP sequins to dress it up:)  A die cut sentiment from PTI in black was all that I added to finish the card after popping it up on a card base..

It was good to play around and learn while making the panel:)
Hope you like it too!
