Spellbinders Blog Hop NEW Decorative Glimmer

Hello everyone and welcome to my stop on blog hop with Spellbinders!  If you are following he hop from the beginning you should be arriving from the blog of Varada Sharma . The inspiration found in this hop is phenomenal and you won't want to miss a single stop!

We are sharing creations using the Glimmer Hot Foil System and Foil plates.  Spellbinders is generously Giving away $50 gift certificate to 3 lucky blog readers – selected from the comments across all of the blogs in the hop. Giveaway closes on Sunday, July 7th 11:59 pm EDT. The winners will be announced in the blog hop post the following Monday.

I'm sharing four different cards in this post, two of which use the negative foil left over from the original foiled images. Directions for that technique will be given on the second card.

Take a look at all four cards together:

*********
The First two cards feature the FLOWER PATTERN GLIMMER HOT FOIL PLATE GLP-092

 **********
Following the directions that come with the system, I foiled the FLOWER PATTERN GLIMMER HOT FOIL PLATE GLP-092 using Rose Gold foil. Then I colored the foiled panel with alcohol markers and Zig clean color markers. I added a sentiment banner and tiny die-cut flowers to the center of the blue flowers. Trimmed and matted the finished panel onto yellow card stock.

*********

My 2nd card has the FLOWER PATTERN negative (left-over) foil from the card above. I'll call this technique negative foiling, for lack of a better name.

Through experimentation, this is the order in which I placed the elements onto the hot Glimmer Platform:
*printer paper
*FLOWER PATTERN negative foil ...glimmer side down
*110lb Cardstock
*printer paper
*2 more pieces of 110lb Cardstock
*Glimmer Thin Shim
*Metal shim
*Glimmer Spacer Pad

I made sure that the Glimmer Hot Foil system was up to temperature and the timer had gone off  ( all three lights glowing) before taking the platform to my cutting machine.

The foil transfers beautifully with proper shimming..some adjustments may need to be mage with each cutting machine and paper thicknesses.  My cutting machine, a non-Spellbinders brand, is on it's last leg...meaning it misses spots due to a cracked metal head...Platinum 6 is on my NEED to buy list:)))
A touch of fussy cutting on another foiled panel provided extra flowers layered onto my panel directly over the full foiled piece, gluing into place. Once a gain I grabbed a sentiment die-cut from the July Card Kit of the month. KOM-JULY19 popped up with foam tape. and added tiny flowers and marker dots to the center of the other flowers.
*********
And my next two cards feature the Flower Border GLIMMER HOT FOIL PLATE GLP-093

*********
I played with Repeat foiling the Flower Border onto the  pattern paper behind the FABULOUS sentiment.... Yana has a great video for this repeat foiling technique HERE..

The SILVER foil looks so pretty with the rainbow iridescent foil in the word FABULOUS!

*********
More Negative foiling for a super Glimmering background for this mermaid and her friends below.

Since I had two negative Flower Border foiled panels I trimmed them with a wave for a watery split background.

*********
All papers, die-cuts, and embellishments are from the July Card Kit of the month. KOM-JULY19. It has a super cute mermaid theme for hot summer cardmaking fun!!

I hope you enjoyed my cards today and are inspired to got your Glimmer warmed up to foil something on your next project!  I bought my Glimmer before Christmas and was quite intimidated with it, until I started watching videos by Yana and several other Crafters on YouTube. The tips and suggestions given by those ladies helped me gain confidence to play with the system and truly enjoy adding foil to projects! Tips like using washi tape to hold plate, foil and paper in place. Also adding multiple paper shims for proper pressure to get better results. I encourage you to watch Glimmer Hot Foil system YouTube videos to help you on your foiling journey.

Thanks for stopping by and may your day be blessed with papercraft goodness!
